- California’s school vaccination law now bans personal and religious exemptions for school-required vaccines—only medical exemptions will be permitted.
- Hawaii recently passed historic legislation making it the first state to prohibit the sale, purchase, possession, or consumption of cigarettes, other tobacco products, and e-cigarettes to anyone under age 21.

- New Orleans residents are breathing easier since a new historic ordinance was passed to implement a citywide smoking ban in all public places and workplaces, including bars and casinos.
- A new report [PDF–9.2MB] shows that Vermont leads the nation in dental healthcare access and has the nation’s lowest percentage of residents living in underserved areas.

- High school smoking in New York declined by more than 50% (27.1 to 12.6 percent) from 2000-2010.
- The University of Kentucky is one of over 500 U.S. college campuses that has enacted 100% smoke-free or tobacco-free policies.
