CDC and its partners have developed a new training about controlling vectors that can spread pathogens, like Zika.
Environmental and public health professionals can take the free training to access resources for controlling mosquitoes, ticks, rodents, and other vectors.

Eighteen percent of state public health employees surveyed planned to leave their job within one year; such turnover threatens states’ capacity [PDF-505KB] to protect public health.
The largest ever survey of the public health workforce showed training in policy development could help with job satisfaction.
Two new courses on policy analysis and evaluation, which can be applied to policy development, are free and available to the public through CDC TRAIN.

CDC’s Public Health Informatics Fellowship Program is the first public health fellowship designated as a Registered Apprenticeship by the US Department of Labor.
CDC’s collaboration with the Department of Labor establishes the Public Health Informatics Fellowship Program as the national standard for public health informatics training programs.
The fellowship program’s annual application period opens on July 5 and ends November 3 at midnight (EST); learn more about the eligibility criteria.

March 2, 2012

Chronic diseases account for 70% of all deaths in the United States.
Thirty-seven CDC-funded Prevention Research Centers (PRCs) develop and test chronic disease prevention programs and interventions through partnerships with public health agencies.
The PRCs provide health promotion and disease prevention trainings to nearly 2,900 public health employees a year; check out the online catalog of trainings.
