Fact Sheets

Fact sheets on short sleep duration—defined as less than 7 hours in a typical 24-hour period—among US adults are available for all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Each fact sheet includes:

  • A map with county-level estimates of short sleep duration.
  • A table with the prevalence of short sleep duration among adults in the state by sex, age, and race/ethnicity.
  • A chart with the prevalence of four health risk factors, by sleep duration (short sleep vs. sufficient sleep).
  • A chart with the prevalence of 10 chronic conditions, by sleep duration (short sleep vs. sufficient sleep).

The information on the fact sheets can be used by state public health programs to prioritize education and outreach efforts to improve the health of residents in their state.

Select a state from the drop-down menu or from the map to open that state’s fact sheet.
