The NIOSH Aviation Safety Research Program is proud to partner with a wide collection of industry, academic, governmental, non-governmental, and non-profit groups to help achieve our goals as well as the NIOSH mission of safety and health for all workers through research and prevention.

Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA)

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association advocates on behalf of their members; educates pilots, non-pilots, and policy makers; provides resources for flight training and improved flight safety; conducts safety seminars; provides presentations and videos; and publishes safety reports, webinars, and blog-posts, to highlight issues and safety topics.

Alaska Air Carriers Association

The Alaska Air Carriers Association (AACA) is a non-profit group formed in 1966 to foster aviation safety and promote the interests of Alaska's commercial aviation businesses.

Alaska Airman Association (AAA)

The mission of the Alaska Airmen Association is to promote aviation, enhance safety, and support initiatives that benefit pilots and the growing aviation community.

Alaskan Aviation Safety Foundation

The foundation is a non-profit organization created to improve aviation safety in Alaska through education, advocacy, and research.

Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development

The Alaska Department of Labor houses the Division of Workers’ Compensation, which is the agency that administers the Alaska Workers’ Compensation Act. NIOSH researchers are analyzing data from workers’ compensation claims to characterize and learn more about injuries to all aviation workers in Alaska.

Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities  – Statewide Aviation

The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities is a department within the government of Alaska in charge of providing for the safe movement of people and goods and the delivery of State services; they are also responsible for overseeing policies, procedures, and programs to develop, construct, operate, and manage 240 airports in the rural aviation system.

Aviation Safety Council of Alaska

The council was created when industry operators joined with the Medallion Foundation to further the advancement of aviation safety in Alaska by sharing information, promoting educational programs, constructively identifying and acting on areas of mutual interest and providing a forum for the exchange of professional knowledge.

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Alaska Region Flight Services

The Federal Aviation Administration's Alaska Region Flight Services page contains information on flight service stations, communications, public notices, flight advisories, and any updates or changes to information important to flight safety in Alaska.

The Federal Aviation Administration's Alaska Region Flight Standards page is full of links to maps, weather cameras, brochures, and helpful information on flying safely in Alaska.

Medallion Foundation

The Medallion Foundation was formed by the Alaska Air Carriers Association in 2001 to improve pilot safety awareness and reduce air carrier insurance rates.

National Transportation Safety Board

The National Transportation Safety Board is an independent U.S. government investigative agency responsible for investigating aviation accidents and providing a description and probable cause.

National Weather Service Alaska Region

The Alaska Region’s Alaska Aviation Weather Unit has a website that provides pilots with textual and graphical forecasts, current weather observations, pilot reports, weather advisories, and information regarding volcanic activity.

University of Alaska, Anchorage

The University of Alaska Anchorage campus trains many people throughout the state who wish to pursue careers in aviation, including potential pilots, aircraft technicians, and air traffic controllers.

University of Alaska - Fairbanks , Aviation Maintenance Technology

The UAF Community and Technical College aviation maintenance technology program is a Part-147 program that offers an associate’s degree in aviation maintenance and certificates in airframe and/or powerplant.
