Bypass the phone directory and contact a NIOSH Program Specialist directly. Program Specialists oversee the processing of cancer cases filed under Part B of the Act that are forwarded to NIOSH for dose reconstruction by the Department of Labor. The Act allows for groups of employees (called classes of employees) to be added to the Special Exposure Cohort (SEC). Classes of employees added to the SEC do not need to have a dose reconstruction completed for their case. Classes of employees and work sites can be considered for addition to the SEC through a petition process run by NIOSH.

When an agency of the federal government develops a regulation, it is generally required to keep a formal record of that process.
