Subject: NIOSH NPPTL Meeting for All Respirator Manufacturers, October 3, 2012

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL), Technology Evaluation Branch (TEB) is holding a meeting for all respirator manufacturers on October 3, 2012, at the NIOSH site in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will adjourn by 4:00 p.m.

All manufacturers, manufacturer application preparers, and other interested parties are welcome to attend. Please review the posted agenda for the discussion topics. TEB staff will be available for meetings the afternoon of October 2nd and the morning of October 4th. Please contact Jeff Peterson (jap3@cdc.gov) directly to schedule meetings. Laboratory tours will also be given the morning of October 4th. Please let us know if you are interested in participating in tours of the NPPTL laboratory.

Because the meeting will be held at the NIOSH/NPPTL site, it is critical that you complete a registration form and submit to the NPPTL TEB office. You may register electronically by accessing the on-line registration link at this website, or you can download the pdf form and send it by email to (npptlevents@cdc.gov) or fax (412-386-4051).

If you are not a U.S. citizen, you must complete the NIOSH Security Information Requirements for International Visitors Form and submit it to NPPTL Event Management at least 12 business days before the event (Friday, September 14th) along with a copy of your passport. NIOSH approval must be granted before admittance to the NIOSH site will be allowed. All meeting attendees must show a valid photo I.D. (preferably a driver’s license), and all foreign national citizens must show a current passport, before admittance to the site will be permitted.

A limited block of rooms has been reserved, at $119 per night, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 164 Ft. Couch Road, Pittsburgh PA 15241. Hotel phone is 412-833-5300. You must reference the NIOSH NPPTL meeting to receive this rate. A list of other hotels near the NIOSH NPPTL facility is included on our website with the additional meeting information.

Because of the complexity of going off site for lunch, we will be offering a box lunch option that will be delivered to the meeting room. The box lunch includes a hoagie (or sandwich), deli salad, chips, cookie and a drink. The cost is $7.00 per person which must be paid at the registration in the morning. A boxed lunch order form is included and must be returned to NPPTL by September 28, 2012. Please send the form to npptlevents@cdc.gov or fax to 412-386-4051.
