Additional Information Regarding Upcoming NIOSH Manufacturers Meeting

This message is being sent as an update and clarification to the meeting announcement distributed at 1:32pm on Friday July 11, 2014, Subject: [NPPTL] Important Announcement from NPPTL regarding Manufacturers Meeting.

The purpose of this update is to provide a more complete explanation of the intent and content of the first meeting (August 27, 2014) described in that message. The information presented for the second meeting (October 22, 2014) remains unchanged

NIOSH NPPTL is holding two meetings for all respirator manufacturers and manufacturer application preparers, with other interested parties also welcome to participate.

The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 8:30 am until 3:00 pm. One purpose of this meeting is to announce the availability of processes and procedures whereby respirator certification applicants will be able to make certification fee payments using the features of the PAY.GOV system to make secure electronic fee payments to NPPTL. This meeting will provide guidance for applicants wishing to use the payment system through demonstrations, discussions, and a question and answer session to include implementation of the new NPPTL processes and procedures enabling electronic fee payments for respirator certification activities.

In response to stakeholder comments, NIOSH also will provide an expanded discussion of respirator approval processing times. Finally, NIOSH will discuss the Office of Mining Safety and Health Research activities related to docking switch-over values, hoods with inner masks for communication, and very high pressure cylinders.

The second meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 8:30 am until 3:00 pm. The primary topic remains a discussion of the updates to the Standard Application Procedure; however, stakeholders may provide thoughts about other topics of interest.
