Subject: The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), will hold a meeting for all respirator manufacturers on December 12, 2005, at the NIOSH site in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. An agenda is being developed and will be posted in the near future. The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will adjourn by 4:00 p.m.

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), will hold a meeting for all respirator manufacturers on December 12, 2005, at the NIOSH site in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. An agenda is being developed and will be posted in the near future. The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will adjourn by 4:00 p.m.

The morning session will address replacement rates, and alternatives to the silica dust tests for powered, air-purifying respirators (PAPRs), labeling for filtering facepiece respirators, and other topics. The afternoon session will include a Standard Application Procedures (SAP) Workshop and a tour of the NIOSH/NPPTL laboratories and testing facilities. All manufacturer representatives, manufacturer application preparers, and other interested parties are welcome to attend. Sleeping room blocks have been set up at the Holiday Inn Select Pittsburgh South (412-833-5300 / 1-800-HOLIDAY) and the Sheraton Station Square Hotel (412-261-2000 / 800-325-3535) for the evening of December 11, 2005. Special group rates have been negotiated at each hotel for meeting guests — $94 per night at the Holiday Inn Select Pittsburgh South — $91 per night at the Sheraton Station Square Hotel. You must contact either hotel before the cut-off date of December 1, 2005, and reference the NIOSH Meeting to receive either group rate. Driving directions for both hotels are included in this email and are also posted on the NIOSH website at NPPTL .

Because the meeting will be held at the NIOSH/NPPTL site, it is critical that you complete a registration form and submit it to the NPPTL Event Management Office. You may register electronically by accessing the on-line registration link at this web site, or you can download the pdf form and send it by e-mail (npptlevents@cdc.gov) or fax (304-225-2003).

If you are not a U.S. citizen, you must complete the posted NIOSH Foreign National Visitor Form and submit it to NPPTL Event Management at least 7 business days before the event. NIOSH approval must be granted before admittance to the NIOSH site will be allowed. All meeting attendees must show a valid photo I.D. (preferably a driver’s license), and all foreign national citizens must show a current passport, before admittance to the site will be permitted.
