Stacy Smallwood

	Stacy Smallwood

Stacy W. Smallwood, Director of Fellows Services for the CDC/ASPH Institute for HIV Prevention Leadership. Before joining the Institute, he was a Health Communications Specialist with NIOSH.  In that capacity, Mr. Smallwood was the project manager for the Stop Sticks project, which targeted health care workers with education and information campaigns to reduce the incidence of workplace needle-stick and sharps injuries.  He has also worked as a peer health advocate with the Between Brothers program, an HIV prevention initiative targeting young African-American men. 
Mr. Smallwood is also an accomplished performance poet.  He is a four-time member of the Columbia Poetry Slam Team, a team that was the Southern Fried Regional Championship team in 2006.  In 2004, he was a finalist in the individual World Poetry Slam competition.  His poems have been published in THRIFT Poetic Arts Journal and in My South: A People, A Place, A World All Its Own by Rutledge Hill Press.
