The Survey Orientation course for NHANES III includes one module:

Module 3. Data Structure & Contents

This module provides a general overview of NHANES III data structure and contents, as well as how they are different from continuous NHANES.  This module is a supplement to the Continuous NHANES tutorial Survey Orientation course, which provides an overview of all NHANES surveys, and how to navigate the NHANES website.

Combined with knowledge gained in the Continuous NHANES tutorial Survey Orientation course, you will have a better  understanding of how information is laid out on the NHANES website and how the NHANES III data files are organized.

Whether you are a novice or an experienced analyst, we recommend that you complete the basic tutorial on Continuous NHANES before beginning the supplemental tutorials.

Users who wish to pick and choose topics of interest in this course may do so by using the navigation bar to the left or by using the Tutorial A-Z Index.

Sample Code

Annotated SAS and SUDAAN codes are presented in summary tables throughout the tutorial for the sole purpose of demonstration and explanation. These annotated codes do not comprise a complete SAS or SUDAAN program that can be readily submitted for a computer run. If you need the complete SAS or SUDAAN program corresponding to these annotated codes, please consult the 'Download Sample Code and Dataset' links listed under the tasks in the respective module.
