NCHHSTP Annual Report 2014

May 5, 2015

Dear Colleagues,

The NCHHSTP Annual Report 2014 has been published and is now available on the NCHHSTP Internet site at https://www.cdc.gov/nchhstp. I invite you to take time to review the report. From the publication of new guidelines for pre-exposure prophylaxis for prevention of HIV infection, to new recommendations for lab tests for chlamydia and gonorrhea, as well as new “State HIV Prevention Progress Reports” and issuance of new “Self-Study Modules on Tuberculosis,” progress is evident in many areas.

The Report highlights the implementation of the first year of a redesigned 5-year funding program promoting adolescent health through school-based programs; the continued successes of various campaigns, such as “Know More Hepatitis” and “HIV Treatment Works”; and other exciting activities such as work in advanced molecular detection to help detect disease outbreaks faster, better, and more efficiently. Over the last year, we also have seen results of our work with the continuation of the trend for lower TB cases and the first decline in chlamydia rates since national reporting began.

All of these achievements result from the support, engagement, and collaboration of the NCHHSTP staff and you, our partners working in other federal agencies, non-governmental organizations, and communities across the country and around the world. Thank you for a tremendous year.

Sincerely,

/Jonathan Mermin/
