CDC has supported 19 Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETPs) in Africa that have served 23 countries and graduated more than 800 residents. 

In 2013 and 2014 CDC-supported African FETPs have responded to over 100 outbreaks, including:

  • Lassa Fever in Nigeria
  • Polio in Cameroon and Nigeria
  • Monkeypox in The Democratic Republic of the Congo
