I write this with mixed emotions. As a family, we are closing a chapter of our lives and it really feels surreal. Our three and a half years in Rwanda are rich with fond memories and true friends. Thanks for your love and support. Moses and I feel like we are leaving home somehow. But we are reminded that this is a small world, and we trust our paths will cross again.

To CDC, U.S. government, and stakeholders: I want to express my deep appreciation for the time spent working with each of you for the last three and a half years. I feel very grateful to have served as the Senior Grants Manager and Deputy Country Director during this time. Both roles have allowed me to work with you in programmatic and management aspects of the CDC program. I must say I have enjoyed working not only with my colleagues at CDC, Department of State, USAID, Department of Defense, and Peace Corps, but with my colleagues at the Rwanda Ministry of Health, Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC), the National Reference Laboratory (NRL), Centre National de Transfusion Sanguine (CNTS), the National AIDS Control Commission (CNLS), Kigali Health Institute (KHI), Umbrella of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities in the Fight against HIV and AIDS and in Health Promotion (UPHLS), as well as University of Maryland, Columbia University, Tulane University, Emory University, University of California San Francisco, Jembi, Voxiva, PSI, FHI 360, and many other nongovernmental agencies. As a result of these collaborations, Rwanda is much closer to achieving the UNAIDS 90-90-90 goals.

I consider myself very fortunate for having had a chance to work with subject matter experts of your caliber. Working with each of you was a great learning experience for me. I really value the knowledge and insight you have and your willingness to share it with me.

You have truly inspired me to work with sincerity and dedication.

I consider you not only colleagues, but valuable friends. This is not a “goodbye” but an “until we meet again.” If you are ever in Atlanta or the U.S., please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,
Moses and Pamela
