In this video abstract, CDC’s Dr. Hannah Weir talks about her work to project trends in new cancer cases and deaths to the year 2020. The largest increases are expected in prostate, female breast, lung, and colorectal cancers.

Aside from non-melanoma skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men in the United States. It is also one of the leading causes of cancer death among men of all races and Hispanic origin populations. For more information, visit Cancer Among Men.

In 2014 (the most recent year for which numbers are available)—

  • 172,258 men in the United States were diagnosed with prostate cancer.
  • 28,343 men in the United States died from prostate cancer.
