Cancer Journal Supplement

Reaching medically underserved women is a start to reducing disparities in breast and cervical cancer deaths. For more than 20 years, CDC’s National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP) has worked to decrease these disparities through cooperative agreements with states, tribes, and territories to provide breast and cervical cancer screening, diagnostic tests, and treatment referral services to low-income women who would not otherwise have access to these services. The NBCCEDP is the only nationally organized cancer screening program for underserved women in the United States.

CDC’s Division of Cancer Prevention and Control sponsored a supplemental issue of the journal Cancer entitled, “National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program: Two Decades of Service to Underserved Women.” The 13 articles in the supplement are listed below.
