Stephanie’s Story

I am 34 years old, and I am HIV positive. I found out about my diagnosis a month after my best friend was killed in 2008. I had been infected with HIV from my ex-husband who was involved with a prostitute who knew she was positive. This disease has changed my life so much in so many ways, but I can’t let it get me down because I have a daughter who is 15 years old and the love of my life.

It’s hard living with it, but I’ve managed to do my best and stay strong, although sometimes I have my days of wanting to give up. I can’t because of my daughter and my family. Living with HIV isn’t easy but if I can manage doing it, anybody can. I’m hoping they find a cure and I would like to be a part of this by joining in group discussions and relating to others and their stories. Thank you.
