Rachael's Story

Hi, I’m Rachael. I do not have HIV, nor am I close to anyone living with HIV, but I’m willing to help in every way I possibly can to bring attention to this disease. I feel that information is the key to understanding, and understanding is the key to helping. People still believe all these half-truths about the spread of HIV/AIDS and treat the ones living with this disease like they’re some sort of animal. It hurts me to see this in the news or even at my school. It tears my heart up to hear all these lies being spread about these things. “It’s the gay disease.” “Don’t drink after him, you’ll get IT.” “Only whores get tested…”

I don’t completely understand everything about this disease, but I’m planning on going through medical school and help treat as many people as I can to the best of my abilities - including HIV and AIDS patients. I want to spread the TRUTH and help others understand and help myself understand this disease.
