Reduce early onset group B streptococcal disease
Target:
0.25 new cases among newborns aged 0 through 6 days per 1,000 live births
Baseline:
0.30 newly reported cases of laboratory-confirmed early onset group B streptococcal disease were diagnosed among newborns aged 0 to 6 days per 1,000 live births in 2008
Status:
0.24 cases per 1,000 live births in 2013; 0.21 cases/1,000 live births in whites and 0.44 cases/1,000 live births in blacks in 2013
Haemophilus influenzae
Reduce serotype b cases of Haemophilus influenzae (Hib) invasive disease among children under age 5 years
Target:
0.27 cases per 100,000 children under age 5 years
Baseline:
0.30 confirmed and probable cases of Haemophilus influenzae invasive disease per 100,000 children under age 5 years were reported in 2008
Status:
1.7 cases per 100,000 in 2013; 0.08 cases per 100,000 < 5 year olds in 2013
Meningococcal Disease
Objective:
Reduce meningococcal disease
Target:
1094 cases and reduction of the overall incidence of meningococcal disease to 0.3 case per 100,000
Baseline:
1,215 was the annual average of cases (i.e., 0.34 cases per 100,000) of new laboratory-confirmed meningococcal disease reported in 2004-08
Status:
0.15 cases per 100,000 in 2013
Pneumococcal Infections
Objective 1:
Reduce new invasive pneumococcal infections among children under age 5 years
Target:
12.0 cases per 100,000 children under age 5 years
Baseline:
21.1 cases of laboratory-confirmed invasive pneumococcal infection were reported per 100,000 children under age 5 years in 2008
Status:
10.0 cases per 100,000 less than 5 years in 2013
Objective 2:
Reduce new invasive pneumococcal infections among adults aged 65 years and older
Target:
31.0 new cases per 100,000 adults aged 65 years and older
Baseline:
40.7 new cases of laboratory-confirmed invasive pneumococcal infection per 100,000 adults aged 65 years and older were diagnosed in 2008
Status:
30 cases per 100,000 aged 65 and older in 2013

Reduce invasive antibiotic-resistant pneumococcal infections among children under age 5 years

8.3 new cases of laboratory-confirmed invasive antibiotic-resistant pneumococcal infection per 100,000 children under age 5 years were diagnosed in 2008
Status:
