തെക്കൻ ഏഷ്യയിലും, കിഴക്കൻ ഏഷ്യയിലും, ഓസ്ട്രേലിയൻ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും ഉഷ്ണമേഖലാ, ഉപോഷ്ണമേഖല , മിതശീതോഷ്ണ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും, ഉപ സഹാറൻ ആഫ്രിക്കയിലും തദ്ദേശവാസിയായ ചെറിയ ചേക്കയിരിക്കുന്ന പക്ഷികൾ അഥവാ പാടുന്ന പക്ഷികൾ ആണ് വൈറ്റ്-ഐ. ഇന്ത്യൻ മഹാസമുദ്രത്തിലും പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ പസഫിക് മഹാസമുദ്രത്തിലും ഗൾഫ് ഓഫ് ഗിനിയയിലും ഉഷ്ണമേഖലാ ദ്വീപുകളിലുമാണ് വൈറ്റ് -ഐ കാണപ്പെടുന്നത്. സോസ്റ്ററോപ്സ് ജനുസ്സിലെ ചില അംഗങ്ങൾ കുറയുന്നതായി കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. മിക്ക സ്പീഷീസുകളും ഒറ്റ ദ്വീപിലോ ദ്വീപസമൂഹങ്ങളിലോ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു.
