പൂങ്കണ്ണി

പശ്ചിമഘട്ടത്തിലാണ് ഇവയെ കണ്ടുവരുന്നത്. പ്രധാനമായും ഇലപൊഴിയും കാടുകളും മുളങ്കാടുകളും ആണ് ഇവയുടെ ആവാസവ്യവസ്ഥ. വളരെ സാവധാനത്തിൽ പറക്കുന്ന ഒരു ശലഭമാണിത്. പൊതുവെ താഴ്നാണ് പറക്കുക. മരത്തടിയിൽ നിന്ന് ഊറി വരുന്ന കറ ഇവയ്ക്ക് വലിയ ഇഷ്ടമാണ്. പുൽചെടികളിലാണ് ഇവ മിക്കവാറും മുട്ടയിടുക.[4]

ഇവയുടെ ചിറകിന് പൊതുവെ തവിട്ടുനിറമാണ്. അടിവശത്തായി വരയും കുറിയും ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും ഇവയുടെ ചിറകുകളിൽ കണ്ണുപോലെ ഒരു വലിയ പൊട്ടുണ്ട്. കൺപൊട്ടുകൾക്ക് ചുറ്റും ഒരു വെള്ള വലയവുമുണ്ട്.[5]
