ಅಸೂನ್‌ಸಿಯಾನ್ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಅಮೇರಿಕ ಖಂಡದ ಪೆರಗ್ವೆ ದೇಶದ ರಾಜಧಾನಿ. ನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸುವ ಜನರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ೫,೩೯,೦೦೦ವಾದರೂ ಸುತ್ತಲಿನ ನಗರಗಳನ್ನು ಸೇರಿ ಅಸೂನ್‌ಸಿಯಾನ್ ಮಹಾನಗರದ ಜನಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ೧೬,೩೯,೦೦೦. ಸರಕಾರದ ಕೇಂದ್ರವಾಗಿರುವ ಇದು ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಬಂದರು ಮತ್ತು ಕೈಗಾರಿಕಾ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಕೇಂದ್ರವೂ ಆಗಿದೆ. ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಅಮೆರಿಕದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಹಳೆಯ ನಗರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾದ ಇದನ್ನು ಅಗಸ್ಟ್ ೧೫, ೧೫೩೭ರಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಪಾನಿಷ್ ವಸಾಹತುಶಾಹಿಗಳು ಕಂಡು ಹಿಡಿದು, ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಅಮೆರಿಕದ ಸ್ಪಾನಿಷ್ ವಸಾಹತುಗಳ ಕೇಂದ್ರವನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
