৪ এপ্রিল ২০১৩,ভারতের মহারাষ্ট্র রাজ্যের থানে শহরের মুম্ব্রাতে ভবন ধসে পড়ে।[8][9] এটাকে সেই এলাকার সবচেয়ে খারাপ বিল্ডিং ধস হিসেবে বলা হয়েছে।[10][nb 3]এই ট্র্যাজেডি থেকে প্রায় ১০০ জনের বেশি লোক বেঁচে যায়। এই দুর্ঘটনায় ৭২ জন নিহত (১৮ জন শিশু, ২৩ জন মহিলা, ৩৩ জন পুরুষ সহ) ও ৩৬-৬২ জন আহত হয়। বেঁচে যাওয়াদের সন্ধানে উদ্ধার অভিযান ৬ এপ্রিল ২০১৩ তারিখে শেষ হয়।[1][2][12]

কোন ধরনের পরিকল্পনা বা প্রকৌশলিদের তত্ত্বাবধান ছাড়াই মাত্র ৪৫ দিনের মাথায় দাঁড় করানো হয় এ ভবনটির কাঠামো। নির্মাণ কাজ শেষ না হলেও এরই এখানে বেশ কিছু পরিবার বসবাস শুরু করেছিল।[13] নিম্নমানের সামগ্রী দিয়ে মাত্র কয়েক সপ্তাহের মধ্যেই ভবনটির সাততলা তৈরি করে ফেলা হয়। ধসে পড়ার আগে আট তলার কাজ চলছিল।[14]
