সাইরাস সিলিন্ডার

সাইরাস সিলিন্ডার (ফার্সি: منشور کوروش‎‎) মাটির তৈরি সিলিন্ডার যা কিউনিফর্ম হরফে লেখা সনদ[2] সম্রাট সাইরাসের নামে নামঙ্কিত।[3] সিলিন্ডার দুই হাজার ৬০০ বছরের পুরোনো।[2] যুক্তরাজ্যের লন্ডনে অবস্থিত ব্রিটিশ মিউজিয়ামের অধিকারে আছে সিলিন্ডারটি। খ্রিষ্টপূর্ব ৫৩৯ সালে ব্যাবিলন দখল করার পর সাইরাসের নির্দেশে সিলিন্ডারটি তৈরি করা হয়েছিল। এতে খোদাই করে লেখা আছে পারস্য সাম্রাজ্যজুড়ে ধর্মীয় স্বাধীনতা, সহিষ্ণুতা ও মানবাধিকার বাস্তবায়নের কথা।

সাইরাস সিলিন্ডারে বর্ণিত রয়েছে সম্রাট সাইরাসের ব্যাবিলন আক্রমণের ইতিহাস। তিনি ব্যাবিলনের দেবতা মারদুকের আমন্ত্রণে প্রথম সেখানে গিয়েছিলেন। আধিপত্য প্রতিষ্ঠার পর তিনি মুক্তি দিয়েছিলেন ব্যাবিলনীয়দের হাতে নির্যাতিত দাস জাতিগোষ্ঠীকে। এ ছাড়া তাদের প্রার্থনালয়ে বিভিন্ন দেবদেবীর মূর্তি ফিরিয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছিল সাইরাসের নির্দেশেই। মুক্তি পাওয়া ব্যক্তিদের মধ্যে ইহুদিরাও ছিল। তাদের নিজ নিজ দেশে ফিরে যাওয়ার ব্যবস্থা করে দেন সাইরাস। এসব অসাধারণ পদক্ষেপ বা অবদানের জন্য একজন ‘উদার ও আলোকিত সম্রাটের’ সুনাম অর্জন করেন সাইরাস।[3]

মানবাধিকার সনদ

সাইরাস সিলিন্ডার দেখতে অনেকটা পিপার মতো। পিপা আকৃতির সিলিন্ডারটি ব্যাবিলনের ভিত্তিস্তম্ভে ব্যবহার করা হয়েছিল। বিশেষজ্ঞদের দাবি, এটিই বিশ্বের ‘প্রথম মানবাধিকার সনদ’।[4]

আবিষ্কার

ব্রিটিশ প্রত্নতাত্ত্বিক ও কূটনীতিক হরমুজদ র‌্যাসামের নেতৃত্বে মেসোপটেমিয়া (বর্তমান ইরাক) থেকে সিলিন্ডারটি ১৮৭৯ সালে উদ্ধার করা হয়।[4]

সাইরোপিডিয়া

সাইরাসের জীবনীর ওপর ভিত্তি করে গ্রিক চিন্তাবিদ জেনোফন লিখেছেন সাইরোপিডিয়া। জোনোফন লিখেছেন সাইরাস কীভাবে সহিষ্ণুতার ওপর ভিত্তি করে একটি বৈচিত্র্যময় সমাজ শাসন করতেন। বইটি (গ্রিক ও লাতিন ভাষায়) ইউরোপে ১৭৬৭ সালে প্রকাশিত হয়। একটি কপি স্থান পেয়েছে ওয়াশিংটন ডিসির বিশেষ প্রত্নপ্রদর্শনীতে। আরেকটি কপি ছিল সাবেক মার্কিন প্রেসিডেন্ট টমাস জেফারসনের সংগ্রহে, যা বর্তমানে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের লাইব্রেরি অব কংগ্রেসে সংরক্ষিত রয়েছে।[4]
