জলরঙ

জলরঙ (মার্কিন ইংরেজি: Watercolor বা কমনওয়েলথ ও আয়ারল্যান্ড: watercolour), এছাড়াও aquarelle (ফরাসি: loanword), জল শব্দের ল্যাটিন ক্ষুদ্রত্ববাচক, হল একধরনের চিত্রকর্ম পদ্ধতি বা মাধ্যম যেখানে রঞ্জক পদার্থকে পানি জাতীয় দ্রবণে মিশিয়ে রঙ তৈরি করা হয়। জলরঙ দ্বারা মাধ্যম এবং এর ফলে সৃষ্ট শিল্পকর্ম উভয়কে বুঝিয়ে থাকে। উচ্চ মানের গুড়া রঞ্জকের সাথে এ্যারাবিক গাম ও গ্লিসারিন মিশিয়ে রঙ প্রস্তুত করা হয়ে থাকে, এ্যারাবিক গাম রঞ্জককে পরস্পর যুক্ত রাখে আর গ্লিসারিন থাকার কারনে রঙ সহজে জমাট বাধে না।

ইতিহাস

১৫ শতকের মধ্যভাগ থেকে স্বচ্ছ জলরং এর ব্যবহার শুরু হয়, যদিও প্রথম দিকে জলরং কে ড্রইং এর মাধ্যম হিসাবে ব্যবহার করা হত। ১৮ শতকের দিকে এসে জলরং এর ব্যবহার জনপ্রিয় হয়ে ওঠে।
