কালো কার্প এর আদি নিবাস চীনের 'মুক্তা নদী'র অববাহিকায় থেকে উত্তর আমুর নদী ও তার প্রধান উপনদী সহ রাশিয়া পর্যন্ত। সম্ভবত এ মাছ ভিয়েতনামের 'লাল' নদীর আদি বাসিন্দা।
