C-team Admission Criteria

  • ST elevation MI
  • Ischemic chest pain AND
    • Positive troponin OR
    • At least 1 mm labile ST depression OR
    • Heart failure/pulmonary edema
  • Ischemic chest pain + prior PCI or CABG within the previous 6 months
  • Congenital heart disease
    • Complex congenital heart disease OR
    • Surgically uncorrected congenital heart disease OR
    • Cyanotic congenital heart disease with cardiac symptoms
  • Symptomatic arrhythmias – tachycardia, bradycardia or ectopy
  • Class IV heart failure after treatment in ED (IV diuresis x 2, BP control)
  • Tamponade
  • Critical aortic stenosis
  • Endocarditis
  • Aortic dissection declined by surgery
  • Pulmonary hypertension followed by Dr. Oudiz (in pulmonary hypertension clinic)
  • Patients accepted from other facilities by cardiology
  • Patients admitted from cardiology clinic for a cardiac problem
  • Return of Spontaneous Circulation (ROSC) patients receiving hypothermia protocol

Patients who could likely be managed on a different team + cardiology consult

  • Patients with prosthetic valves, ICDs or pacemakers who do not have primary cardiac issue
  • Intermediate risk ACS
  • Heart failure class I, II or III

Patients who might be appropriate for CORE

  • Patients with low or intermediate risk ACS
  • Heart failure class I, II, or III
