TB Genotyping Information Management System (TB GIMS)User Roles and Access Levels
There are different user roles and access levels in TB GIMS. Access to TB GIMS is limited to registered users and is coordinated by a designated State TB GIMS Administrator. Check with the TB Controller in your state for details (see list of State TB Control Offices).
- TB GIMS Administrators
- State Administrators
State TB GIMS Administrators designate user’s access levels and manages user lists for their jurisdictions. An Administrator may or may not be a Super User. - CDC Administrators
- State Administrators
- Genotyping Laboratory Users
CDC funds two laboratories to provide genotyping services to state and local TB control programs. These laboratories are located in California and Michigan. - Super Users
- TB Laboratory Super User
Persons in the laboratory with primary responsibility for submitting isolates to the genotyping laboratories - TB Program Super User
Persons from the TB program with the primary responsibility for managing, coordinating, validating, and analyzing genotype-related activities for their jurisdictions.
Super Users have unrestricted access to TB GIMS for their approved jurisdiction. They can update, edit, enter, upload, review, search, import, and export all TB GIMS data.
- TB Laboratory Super User
- Standard Users
Standard Users are typically TB program managers and other staff who use genotype data in contact investigations, TB program evaluations, incident responses, and other TB control activities. Most TB GIMS users are Standard Users.Standard Users have access to genotyping data, but cannot edit data in the system. Standard Users can search for genotyping results by case (using patient identifiers) or by specific genotype strains (e.g., spoligotype or MIRU patterns), and can view details related to their queries on genotype clusters. - Restricted-access Users
Restricted-access Users are typically partners not directly involved with patient-level or programmatic activities. Restricted-access Users can view aggregate summary data reports.
