Yes. Fellows are initially paid the equivalent of a GS 12, Step 1 salary with a raise in the second year to GS 12, Step 2 based on performance. See the Office of Personnel Management Salary Table for more information.

Yes. Fellows are employed as a full time equivalent (FTE) during their fellowship.

You will receive the same employment benefits as other full-time CDC employees (such as medical insurance and vacation).

Yes. Work authorization information must accompany applications from non-U.S. citizens. Additional information may be solicited.

Yes, though in very rare cases we have accepted fellows who worked on projects away from Atlanta. The CDC provides a relocation stipend of $3,000.

Yes. Fellows may be required to

• Conduct site visits
• Attend conferences
• Meet with CDC grantees and collaborators
• Attend training opportunities

Fellows will be assigned to work in various programs throughout CDC. Placement depends on a best fit between a fellow’s interests and skills and program needs. A sincere effort is made to best to match fellows with assignments that will provide them with the greatest opportunities for professional development.
