BACKGROUND
NIOSH is celebrating 50 years of respiratory health research. Over the years, efforts to identify and address work-related respiratory hazards have had great impact. They have provided a scientific foundation for prevention recommendations and have helped to target prevention efforts where they could do the most good.
In addition, West Virginia University (WVU), NIOSH’s long-time partner, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of their Occupational Medicine Training Program. The symposium recognizes both efforts and will be held in WVU’s Health Sciences Center. The symposium agenda will bring together a multidisciplinary group of health scientists to discuss national and state-specific issues related to occupational health, with a special focus on preventing occupational respiratory disease.
