WHAT

A plenary panel chaired by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Director, Dr. John Howard, will kick-off scientific program for the 10th Annual Conference on Occupational Stress and Health themed “Protecting and Promoting Total Worker HealthTM.” The panel, titled “Why Countries need Total Worker HealthTM,” will explore the benefits of comprehensive workplace safety and health programs that integrate health promotion and health protection activities. The panel will also feature experts from the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, the University of Georgia, the Veterans Administration, and the Laborers’ Health & Safety Fund of North America.

WHO

Dr. John Howard is the Director of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. He previously served as the chief of the Division of Occupational Safety and Health in California's Department of Industrial Relations. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Loyola University of Chicago in 1974, his Master of Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health in 1982, his Doctor of Law from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1986, and his Master of Law in Administrative Law from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in 1987.
