OCCUPATIONAL VIOLENCE

Who can take the course?

Anyone can take the course to learn about violence in healthcare workplace settings, but content is intended for healthcare professionals who want an introduction to workplace violence prevention strategies, including:

• Registered Nurses
• Nurse Practitioners
• Physicians Assistants
• Physicians
• Veterinarians
• Health Educators
• Nursing Students
• Medical Students

Are there any prerequisites to take the course?

There are no prerequisites to take the course.

How long does it take to complete the course?

Time to complete the course varies by each user. There are 13 modules in the training, and each module takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.

What materials or equipment do I need to take the course?

You need access to a computer with reliable internet, and the browser you use must support Javascript.

How do I get credit for taking the course?

Upon completing the course, you must complete the online posttest and evaluation. Refer to the Instructions for Course Credit below.

How long is the posttest?

The posttest consists of 10 multiple choice questions.

1. After viewing the Workplace Violence Prevention for Nurses course, go to CDC Training and Continuing Education Online.
   Notes:
   • If you have not registered as a participant, click new participant to create a user ID and password.
   • If you have already registered in this system, enter your same login credentials. This will ensure an accurate transcript.
2. Once you have registered/logged in, click  search and keyword search for course WB2908.
3. Click on the course and scroll down the page to register.
4. Click on the type of continuing education credit that you would like to receive and submit.
5. You will be prompted to answer three demographic questions. Answer the questions and submit.
6. From “Participant services,” click evaluations and tests.
7. Answer the questions presented on posttest (all answers are in the course material).
   Notes:
   • To receive continuing education credit, you must answer all of the questions.
     Some questions have more than one answer. Questions with more than one answer will instruct you to “indicate all that are correct.”
8. Complete the course evaluation.
9. Print your continuing education certificate from your personal transcript.
10. A record of your completion is also available in the transcript and certificate section of your record.
