AGRICULTURE, FORESTRY AND FISHING

The Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishing Program (AgFF) provides leadership to prevent work-related injuries and illnesses among the nation’s agricultural and forestry workers and fishermen. The program engages with partners in government, industry, academia, labor, and advocacy to promote injury and illness prevention recommendations derived from NIOSH-led and NIOSH-funded research. The NIOSH-funded Centers for Agricultural Safety and Health and NIOSH Center for Maritime Safety and Health Studies conduct much of this research, as well as regional capacity-building, outreach, and research-to-practice activities. Identifying, understanding, and reducing occupational health disparities among groups of vulnerable workers in these industries is a particular focus. Vulnerable workers include immigrants, children, and older workers.
