National Academy Review of the Occupational Energy Research Program: In 2006, the Occupational Energy Research Program (OERP) was reviewed by the National Academies: Advisers to the Nation on Science, Engineering and Medicine. The purpose of this review was to identify strengths and weaknesses of the program.

The National Academies’ final report "Review of the Worker and Public Health Activities Program Administered by the Department of Energy and the Department of Health and Human Services" may be downloaded from the National Academies Press. The National Academies feel the NIOSH program is scientifically sound and has developed useful research methods. Report of studies completed between 1999 and 2000

Occupational Energy Research Program - DHHS (NIOSH) Publication Number 2001-133 This NIOSH Number Publication provides information about the Health-related Energy Research Branch (HERB) research during 1999-2000. All of the aspects of the Occupational Energy Research Program during this period are explained. Information addresses studies done by NIOSH researchers and studies done through NIOSH-supported contracts, grants, and cooperative agreements.
