TYPES OF HAZARD/ EXPOSURE

ACUTE HAZARDS/ SYMPTOMS

PREVENTION

FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING

FIRE Highly flammable.
NO open flames, NO sparks, and NO smoking.
Powder, alcohol-resistant foam, water in large amounts, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION Vapour/air mixtures are explosive.
Closed system, ventilation, explosion-proof electrical equipment and lighting. Do NOT use compressed air for filling, discharging, or handling.
In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water.
EXPOSURE
PREVENT GENERATION OF MISTS!

•INHALATION Cough. Drowsiness. Unconsciousness
Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Seek medical attention if you feel unwell.
•SKIN Dry skin. Redness.
Protective gloves.
First rinse with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, then remove contaminated clothes and rinse again.
•EYES Redness. Pain.
Safety spectacles and eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
Rinse with plenty of water (remove contact lenses if easily possible).
•INGESTION Sore throat. Aspiration hazard! (Further see Inhalation).
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Refer immediately for medical attention.

SPILLAGE DISPOSAL

STORAGE

PACKAGING & LABELLING

Consult an expert! Personal protection: filter respirator for organic gases and vapours adapted to the airborne concentration of the substance. Ventilation. Remove all ignition sources. Collect leaking liquid in sealable containers. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place. Do NOT wash away into sewer.
Fireproof. Separated from oxidants . Cool. Well closed. Keep in the dark. Store in an area without drain or sewer access.
UN Hazard Class: 3
UN Packing Group: II
Signal: Danger
Flame-Excl mark-Health haz
Highly flammable liquid and vapour
Causes eye irritation
Causes mild skin irritation
May cause drowsiness or dizziness
May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways

PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
COLOURLESS LIQUID , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

PHYSICAL DANGERS:
The vapour is heavier than air and may travel along the ground; distant ignition possible. As a result of flow, agitation, etc., electrostatic charges can be generated.

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating and on contact with hot surfaces or flames producing irritating fumes . The substance can presumably form explosive peroxides under the influence of air and light .

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS:
TLV: 5 ppm as TWA (ACGIH 2009).
MAK not established.
ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its vapour and by ingestion.

INHALATION RISK:
A harmful contamination of the air can be reached very quickly on evaporation of this substance at 20°C when dispersed.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
Repeated or prolonged contact with skin may cause dermatitis.
