TYPES OF HAZARD/ EXPOSURE

ACUTE HAZARDS/ SYMPTOMS

PREVENTION

FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING

FIRE Explosive. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.
NO open flames, NO sparks, and NO smoking.
Water in large amounts. Powder, carbon dioxide
EXPLOSION Risk of explosion.
Do NOT expose to friction or shock. Prevent deposition of dust; closed system, dust explosion-proof electrical equipment and lighting.
Combat fire from a sheltered position. In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water.
EXPOSURE
STRICT HYGIENE!
IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR!
•INHALATION Weakness. Dizziness. Headache. Nausea. Convulsions. Unconsciousness.
Closed system and ventilation.
Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention.
•SKIN
Protective gloves.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap.
•EYES Redness. Pain.
Safety goggles or eye protection in combination with breathing protection if powder.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
•INGESTION (see Inhalation).
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Give a slurry of activated charcoal in water to drink. Refer immediately for medical attention.
