TYPES OF HAZARD/ EXPOSURE

ACUTE HAZARDS/ SYMPTOMS

PREVENTION

FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING

FIRE Flammable. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.
NO open flames, NO sparks, and NO smoking.
Powder , foam , carbon dioxide .
EXPLOSION Above 32°C explosive vapour/air mixtures may be formed. Risk of fire and explosion (see Chemical Dangers).
Above 32°C use a closed system, ventilation, and explosion-proof electrical equipment. Do NOT expose to friction or shock.
In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water.
EXPOSURE
PREVENT GENERATION OF MISTS! AVOID ALL CONTACT!

•INHALATION Cough. Headache. Nausea. Sore throat. Nervousness. Anorexia.
Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention.
•SKIN MAY BE ABSORBED! Redness. Serious skin burns. Pain (further see Inhalation).
Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer for medical attention.
•EYES Redness. Pain.
Face shield, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
•INGESTION (Further see Inhalation).
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth. Give one or two glasses of water to drink. Refer for medical attention.

SPILLAGE DISPOSAL

STORAGE

PACKAGING & LABELLING

Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place. (Extra personal protection: chemical protection suit).
Fireproof. Separated from strong oxidants, strong acids, food and feedstuffs . Keep in the dark. Well closed. Store only if stabilized.
Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.
UN Hazard Class: 6.1
UN Subsidiary Risks: 3 and 8
UN Packing Group: II
ICSC: 1232 Prepared in the context of cooperation between the International Programme on Chemical Safety & the Commission of the European Communities (C) IPCS CEC 1994. No modifications to the International version have been made except to add the OSHA PELs, NIOSH RELs and NIOSH IDLH values.

PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
COLOURLESS LIQUID , WITH PUNGENT ODOUR.

PHYSICAL DANGERS:

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance violently polymerize, with fire or explosion hazard. May explosively decompose on shock, friction, or concussion. The substance decomposes on heating or on burning producing toxic fumes of cyanide and nitrogen oxides . Reacts violently with strong oxidants. Strong acids are incompatible.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS:
TLV not established.
MAK not established.

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its vapour, through the skin and by ingestion.

INHALATION RISK:
No indication can be given about the rate in which a harmful concentration in the air is reached on evaporation of this substance at 20°C.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance may cause effects on the skin , resulting in delayed burns and is severely irritating to the eyes and the respiratory tract.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization.
