TYPES OF HAZARD/ EXPOSURE

ACUTE HAZARDS/ SYMPTOMS

PREVENTION

FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING

FIRE Combustible. Liquid formulations containing organic solvents may be flammable. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.
NO open flames.
Powder, water spray, foam, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION Risk of fire and explosion if formulations contain flammable/explosive solvents.

EXPOSURE
STRICT HYGIENE!

•INHALATION Cough.
Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest.
•SKIN Dry skin. Redness. Roughness. Burning sensation.
Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap.
•EYES Redness. Pain. Severe deep burns.
Safety goggles, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
•INGESTION
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth.

SPILLAGE DISPOSAL

STORAGE

PACKAGING & LABELLING

Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment. (Extra personal protection: filter respirator for organic gases and vapours).
Separated from food and feedstuffs. Store in an area without drain or sewer access. Provision to contain effluent from fire extinguishing.
Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating producing toxic fumes including hydrogen cyanide, nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS:
TLV not established.
MAK not established.

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol and by ingestion.

INHALATION RISK:
No indication can be given about the rate in which a harmful concentration in the air is reached on evaporation of this substance at 20°C.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance irritates the skin and is corrosive to the eyes.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization.

PHYSICAL

N O T E S

If the substance is formulated with solvent(s) also consult the card(s) (ICSC) of the solvent(s). Carrier solvent may enhance the skin absorption. Carrier solvents used in commercial formulations may change physical and toxicological properties. TCMTB, Busan, KEMTOX S 10 are trade names.
Card has been partially updated in February 2009: see Storage.
