EPHLI is a year-long competency-based program that focuses on personal understanding and growth. To enhance strategic visioning and direction-setting skills, EPHLI emphasizes critical thinking and analysis, political effectiveness, and organizational and team development. In addition to competencies related to core public health leadership development, the institute addresses competencies specific to the practice of environmental public health.
CDC partners with the National Public Health Leadership Development Network to coordinate the institute. The documents on this page are housed on the network’s Web site.
To graduate from EPHLI, fellows must participate in the following activities and assignments:

- Attend EPHLI sessions.
