The Food and Drug Administration has approved an inactivated
Japanese encephalitis vaccine (JVax *) distributed by Connaught
Laboratories, Inc. (Swiftwater, Pennsylvania), for use by certain
travelers to and expatriates in Asia. Recommendations for vaccine
use are forthcoming from the Advisory Committee on Immunization
Practices.
Use of trade names and commercial sources is for identification
only and does not imply endorsement by the Public Health Service or
the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
