CDC Telebriefing: New Vital Signs Report How can expanded syringe services programs protect gains in HIV prevention?

What

One consequence of the nation’s devastating opioid epidemic is the increased risk of HIV and hepatitis B and C transmission through unsafe injection drug use. Syringe services programs (SSPs) can greatly reduce that risk. This briefing will address new data on trends in SSP use and risk behavior among people who inject drugs, and concrete steps that can be taken to accelerate HIV prevention progress in this population.
