Questionnaire

The ten GSHS core questionnaire modules measure the most important health behaviors and protective factors among students. At least six of the ten GSHS core questionnaire modules must be used by each country along with three questions on respondent demographics. Once a core questionnaire module is selected, all the questions in that module must be used without modification. Each core questionnaire module contains from 3 to 7 questions. The modules are

  • Alcohol use
  • Dietary behaviors
  • Drug use
  • Hygiene
  • Mental health
  • Physical activity
  • Protective factors
  • Sexual behaviors related to HIV infection, other sexually-transmitted infections, and unintended pregnancy
  • Tobacco use
  • Violence and unintentional injury

Core-expanded questions can be used to collect more detailed information on selected core questionnaire module topics. Core-expanded questions may measure behaviors, knowledge, attitudes, skills, access to resources or information, or module-specific protective factors. Core-expanded questions share the same format characteristics as the core questionnaire modules.
