Another Lab Awarded ISO Accreditation

On January 10, 2014, the microbiology laboratory at the Children’s Hospital #2 in Ho Chi Minh City was awarded international accreditation by Vietnam Bureau of Accreditation. This is the eighth laboratory facility in Vietnam having been awarded international level accreditation (ISO15189) resulting from the collaboration between CDC and implementing partner FHI360. The microbiology lab performs general diagnostic tests and research for pediatric health care and over 500,000 microbiology tests are performed each year. The Children’s Hospital #2 chose to seek ISO 15189 accreditation for the following tests: microbiological screening of blood, urine, lower and upper respiratory tract and eyes, along with diagnostic HIV rapid tests.
