The CDC/ATSDR Ethics and Compliance Activity (ECA) staff provides services and assistance on ethics related activities. The (ECA) is specifically responsible for:
- Interpreting standards of conduct regulations
- Reviewing financial disclosure reports
- Offering ethics training and counseling services to help employees avoid ethics violations

Financial Conflicts of Interests and Impartiality
Executive branch employees are prohibited by a Federal criminal statue from participating personally and substantially in a particular matter that will affect certain financial interest -
Official Duties Activities
Executive branch employees are required to consider whether their impartiality may be questioned whenever their involvement in a particular matter involving specific parties might affect certain personal and business relationships -
Outside Activities
Executive branch employees are subject to a number of limitations on the outside activities in which they may be involved

Executive branch employees are subject to restrictions on the gifts that they may accept from sources outside the Government -
Use of Government Position and Resources
Executive branch employees must not use their public office for their own or another's private gain -
Post Government Employment
Information that gives guidance for when disqualification is required while seeking other employment, and restrictions on what you can do after you leave Federal service
Standards & Principles
Amended Executive Order 12731 established the fourteen principles [pdf - 669MB] of ethical conduct for executive branch personnel. The CDC Ethics and Compliance Activity is responsible for ensuring employees are following these standards. Contact our office with any questions.
