Keith Williams is the Deputy Director of the Division of Scientific Education and Professional Development. Mr. Williams has nearly 25 years of public health experience and will provide expert advice to division leadership on program strategy and best practices.

Most recently, Mr. Williams served as the Associate Director for Program Integration, National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID). During the Ebola response, he assisted the Office of the Chief Operating Officer with planning, coordinating, and executing the proposed emergency Ebola appropriation and supported NCEZID with response transition planning.

Mr. Williams joined CDC as a Public Health Advisor at the STD/HIV training center in Lauderhill, Florida. He later joined the National Immunization Program as the Perinatal Hepatitis B Coordinator and Assistant to the Senior Public Health Advisor in Tennessee.

In 1994, Mr. Williams joined the Tennessee Department of Health as a District Public Health Director. He also worked as the legislative liaison for the Tennessee State Health Commissioner for legislation affecting public health.

In 2000, Mr. Williams returned to CDC with the STD Program in Tennessee. In 2004 he came to Atlanta as Project Officer, Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention. From 2005 to 2008, Mr. Williams worked on pandemic influenza preparedness activities and helped set up the first phase of the Influenza Coordination Unit. He also served as Senior Public Health Advisor, National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.

Mr. Williams earned his bachelor's degree in political science and a master of public administration degree from the University of Alabama.
