Dr. Ridderhof is the Senior Laboratory Advisor in the Division of Laboratory Systems (DLS). In his role, he leads activities that support the sustainability of the public health laboratory system by strengthening foundational systems that support the entire range of PHL testing services.

Prior to joining CDC, Dr. Ridderhof worked as a microbiologist in the Virginia Division of Consolidated Laboratory Service and later as deputy director of the Delaware State Public Health Laboratory (DSPHL). Dr. Ridderhof held many roles in CDC prior to joining the Center for Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services (CSELS) to help direct the Laboratory Efficiencies Initiative. His success led to multiple ongoing national activities with the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) including workforce, regional networks, laboratory informatics, and a national test directory. In addition to his work with CSELS, Dr. Ridderhof chaired the Stop TB Partnership Global Laboratory Initiative with the World Health Organization (WHO) and The Joint Commission, Laboratory Professional and Technical Advisory Committee.

Dr. Ridderhof earned his MPH and DrPH, in Public Health Laboratory Practice from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and has High Complexity Laboratory Director (HCLD-ABB) certification.
