Rebecca Gold, J.D., is the Associate Director for Policy in the Division of Scientific Education and Professional Development (DSEPD). Ms. Gold leads the policy team and manages policy activities for the division, working closely with our division programs. She provides expert advice to division leadership and programs on policy strategies and practices, identifies and supports program needs, and develops strategies for capturing program impact.
Most recently, Ms. Gold served as a member of the National Center for Influenza and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD) Office of Policy Planning and Evaluation, where she worked as a senior public health advisor to NCIRD’s leadership team on matters related to the strategic direction of the center, as well as on the status and impact of policies, potential policies, legislation and administrative directives. She was the performance lead for NCIRD and coordinated quality performance reviews, budget performance measures, and led the Immunization and Infectious Diseases topic area for Healthy People 2020.
Prior to joining CDC, Ms. Gold spent many years in Washington, DC working as a public health policy analyst for several trade associations, including those representing public hospitals, pharmacy benefit managers, and doctors of internal medicine. She also represented the over-the-counter pharmaceutical industry in state legislatures and was an associate in Alston & Bird’s technology practice group.
Ms. Gold earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and participated in the community program at Tufts University. She earned her law degree at the Georgetown University Law Center.
