Gabrielle (Gaby) Benenson, MPH, is the Chief of the Education and Training Services Branch (ETSB) in the Division of Scientific Education and Professional Development (DSEPD). Ms. Benenson helps DSEPD accomplish its mission by directing communication, education, and training activities.

Ms. Benenson joined CDC in 1999, working as a Health Education Specialist in CDC’s Division of Tuberculosis Elimination where she developed training materials and tools for health care workers.

Since then, she has served as the Associate Director for Training, Education, and Communication for the Division of Global Migration and Quarantine (DGMQ) in the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID). Over the years she has led DGMQ’s communication and education teams  in numerous public health emergency responses including  response to 2009 pandemic H1N1 flu, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, and Ebola. Previously she led DGMQ’s Quarantine Training and Education Team in developing training, education, and communication tools to help partners and staff perform their public health role at U.S. ports of entry.

Ms. Benenson earned her Master of Public Health degree from the University of Michigan in Health Behavior and Health Education and a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from James Madison University.
