Data Files

There are 247,964 records for 2002. More information on participation is available in the States Conducting Surveillance by Year table. The data files are provided in ASCII, dBase, and SAS Transport formats. The October 10, 2003 update was to remove the five family planning calculated variables pending further review of the definitions. SMART BRFSS and BRFSS GIS Maps data and documentation are also available for this data year.

2002 BRFSS Data (SAS Transport Format) [ZIP - 47 MB]
This file was exported from SAS V8.2 in the XPT transport format. This format can be imported directly into statistical programs such as SPSS or STATA. Please note: some of the variable labels become truncated in the process of converting to the XPT format so they may be slightly different from what is on the SASOUT.SAS program or those in the SAS dataset.
