மாகிம்

மாகிம் மும்பையின் நகர்ப்பகுதிகளில் ஒன்று. இங்கு மும்பை புறநகர் இரயில்வேயில் மாகிம் இரயில் நிலையம் அமைந்துள்ளது. மாகிம் மும்பையின் இதயமாகக் கருதப்படுகிறது.

வரலாறு

மாகிம் என்னும் பெயர் மாகிக்காவதி என்னும் சமற்கிருதப் பெயரில் இருந்து உருவானது. இவ்வூர் மாகிமாவதி, மைச்சிம், மெச்சாம்பு என்னும் பெயர்களாலும் அழைக்கப்பட்டது.[1]

முதலில் மும்பையை உருவாக்கிய ஏழு தீவுகளுள் இதுவும் ஒன்று.

புவியியல்

தாராவி, தாதர், பாந்திரா ஆகிய பகுதிகள் வடக்கிலும் அரபிக்கடல் மேற்கிலும் எல்லைகளாக அமைந்துள்ளன.
