}} சர் ஜான் பிரெடரிக் வில்லியம் எர்ழ்செல் (Sir John Frederick William Herschel, 1st Baronet) (7 மார்ச்சு 1792 – 11 மே 1871)[1] ஒரு ஆங்கிலேய பலதுறை அறிஞரும் கணிதவியலாளரும் வானியலாலரும் வேதியியலாளரும் புதுமைபுனைவாளரும் செய்முறைஒளிப்படவியலாளரும் ஆவார். இவர் நிலைத்திணையியலிலும் அரிய ஆய்வுகள் செய்துள்ளார்.[1] இவரது தாயார் மேரி பால்டுவின் ஆவார். இவரது தந்தையார் வானியலாளராகிய வில்லியம் எர்ழ்சல் ஆவார். கரோலின் எர்ழ்செல் இவரது ஒன்றுவிட்ட தங்கையார் ஆவார். இவருக்கு பன்னிரண்டு குழந்தைகள் உண்டு.[1]
